The new agreement covers a two-year period, with an option to extend for an additional two years.
The Prison and Probation Service's goal is to reduce the number of criminals who re-offend, thereby increasing safety in the community. It aims to achieve this through active reformative measures, including treatment programmes, work and opportunities to study.
"We're looking forward to adding value to an important institution in our community. IT is an important tool for improving the service the community provides to its citizens. Just think how easy it is to file your tax return by just sending a single SMS. We're proud of the important role we're playing in the public sector's efforts to further improve this service," says Patrik Holm, Managing Director at HiQ Ace in Linköping.
The Prison and Probation Service has its head office in Norrköping and operates in six regions, both north and south. HiQ's local presence was important in helping it to clinch the deal. Other HiQ customers in the region include public authorities such as the Swedish Meteorological and Hydrological Institute (SMHI), VTI, Transportstyrelsen and larger companies like Autoliv, Motorola and Saab. HiQ also works with small and medium sized technology intensive companies.
"We're expanding in the region and are winning contracts in several cities in Östergötland County. It's exciting that Sweden's fourth largest metropolitan area is demonstrating its strength and innovative talent in areas like the public sector and the telecom and automotive industries," Holm adds.
